Artefille

Long Lasting Filler

You might be thinking about Artefill in the Houston Area. But it can be difficult to determine which liquid filler is right for you. Each liquid filler has its strengths and weaknesses. Some are specifically designed to absorbed by the body. This has the advantage of a sense of natural processes, but the disadvantage of needing to re-administer the filler at regular intervals.

Artefill is designed specifically to avoid that absorption process, meaning that the filler lasts longer and, therefore, so do the results. The filler itself is made up of various chemicals and bovine collagen, and sometimes lidocaine to reduce pain. During the treatment this filler is injected into the skin with a fine needle. As with many other liquid facial treatments, Artefill procedures can generally be performed over a lunch hour, and you can often immediately return to work.

Dr. Polsen, a plastic surgeon in the Houston Area, will help you navigate the liquid filler arena, consulting with you to determine which filler best meets the criteria of your desired results.

Overview

  • Artefill is a liquid face filler
  • The results of Artefill have been known to last up to five years
  • Recovery: 24 hours

Who is a Good Candidate?

Those who seek out Artefill have particularly deep set smile lines that make their face look older than it feels. Candidates should be in relatively good health and have realistic expectations of what the procedure can accomplish. Candidates should also take measures to ensure that they are not allergic to Artefill or liquid fillers.

The Procedure

Dr. Polsen will work with you to determine if there are areas of your face that will benefit from a liquid filler procedure. Any Artefill procedure is generally over in a matter of minutes, but every patient is unique so Dr. Polsen will work with you to develop a personalized plan. This plan will begin with targeting areas of the face, such as deep set smile lines, which contribute to an aging look. These targeted areas will then be injected with Artefill using a fine needle. Once the injection is finished, you will notice a more youthful, radiant look to your skin.

Results generally last up to five years, so Artefill is considered a long term solution. That said, the procedure is not easily reversible, so much like a surgical facelift, it is a longer term commitment.

Recovery

Pain, swelling and redness can develop around injection points, but these symptoms usually subside in 24 hours or less. You can often return to work or daily activity immediately following your treatment. Dr. Polsen will work with you to develop a personalized recovery plan that will minimize your discomfort and maximize your results.
