Breast Revision Surgery

Nationally Renowned

Dr. Polsen is known nationwide as a Clear Lake, TX, breast revision surgery expert. In the summer of 2014, he was featured on ABC’s Houston affiliate, ABC 13 News:

Get the Look You Want

There are many reasons to pursue a breast revision surgery. Breast implants are medical devices, and often need maintenance (in fact, most are guaranteed to last only 10 years). Sometimes, however, an implant deflates or the end result simply didn’t live up to your expectations. Breast revision surgery is designed to rectify those issues and ensure the breast is the desired size and shape. You should never be happy with an end result that doesn’t meet your expectations, because you’ll have to live with those results for years.

If you’re dissatisfied with your breast implant or augmentation surgery in the Houston Clear Lake Area, Dr. Polsen is eager to talk to you today to make sure you end up with a look that leaves you feeling happy, confident, and satisfied. Or, call our Clear Lake office at (281) 538-6600.

Overview:

  • Breast Revision Surgery repairs issues caused by previous breast augmentation procedures
  • There are many reasons why a breast augmentation might need to be revised
  • Recovery: 1-2 weeks for light activity

Who is a Good Candidate?

The one thing that all Houston Area breast revision surgery candidates have in common is that they are unhappy with their current breast implants. This unhappiness can come in the form of:

  • Revision is towards a larger implant
  • Revision towards a smaller implant
  • Defect in a previous implant or surgery
  • Old implant in need of maintenance
  • Wrinkling of the implant
  • Asymmetry of implant or previous procedure
  • Unhappy with scars

All candidates should be healthy enough for major surgery and have realistic expectations of what the surgery will accomplish.

The Procedure

Dr. Polsen will first meet with all his Clear Lake candidates to discuss the reasons behind their Breast Revision surgery and what the corrected desired result will be. Breast Revision Surgery is almost always done under general anesthesia. In most cases,  Dr. Polsen will try to use the same incision lines as the first breast surgery in order to minimize scarring and promote healing. The surgeon will also swap out the defective or unwanted implant for a new one. Dr. Polsen will work with you to create a personalized plan to get your desired result. As every patient will come in for different reasons with different desires, it’s important to communicate with your surgeon to ensure those desired results.

Recovery

The recovery process is much like it is with a typical breast augmentation, though sometimes it is much easier due to the fact that the muscle sac which holds the implant has already stretched. Dr. Polsen will make sure to give you personalized instructions for your recovery, and it’s important to follow them closely to avoid complications that could necessitate yet another surgery. When all is said and done, you can expect to be back to work within the week, but you will likely be under weight lifting restrictions for 3 weeks to 3 months.
