Who is a Good Candidate for Botox in Clear Lake, TX?

Every candidate is unique, but almost anyone could be a good candidate for BOTOX®. By smoothing out wrinkles, BOTOX® can leave you with a noticeably more youthful appearance. It’s almost like a non surgical facelift. However, Dr. Polsen strongly suggests all of his Clear Lake, TX, BOTOX® patients be healthy and have a realistic idea of what can be achieved.

The Botox Injection Procedure

Together with Dr. Polsen, you will pinpoint specific areas of your face that could best benefit from this procedure. During the procedure, BOTOX® will be injected into the skin with a fine needle. Topical or local anesthetic is generally not required, but Dr. Polsen will work with you to ensure your overall comfort. Your targeted BOTOX® treatment will weaken only the facial muscles targeted, removing wrinkles while localizing any bruising and swelling. BOTOX® works by neutralizing the muscles underneath your skin, in particular the muscle fibers and receptors that cause wrinkles. In addition to cosmetic procedures, BOTOX® has a number of other uses, including triggers of migraine headaches or neck spasms (among other muscular neurological conditions).

For cosmetic purposes, your results should appear within a few days, but your recovery will need to be completed in order to achieve the full effect of your injection. It is important to remember that BOTOX® is not permanent, and will likely need to be repeated every 3-4 months or so in order to maintain your results.

Recovery

The recovery time for BOTOX® injections is generally short. Depending on your area of injection, exercise may not be immediately recommended. It is critical that you do not massage or rub your injection sites until you are fully recovered. Dr. Polsen’s patients rarely see complications, but swelling and bruising may occur following BOTOX® injections.
